The Red Ribbon is an East Asian myth which symbolizes the eternal love between two lovers. It is usually mentioned during wedding ceremonies because this invisible red ribbon (or thread of fate) ties together the two souls. In this setting, we have a man who is wandering alone in a forest on the fifth anniversary of his wife’s passing, whereupon he meets her spirit for the final time.
